The Game Awards 2017 Best Game Direction recognizes the ability of game developers to combine content, gameplay, and art style seamlessly. Classic franchises dominate the awards, like Wolfenstein, Mario, Resident Evil, and Zelda. Meanwhile, rookie IP Horizon Zero Dawn from Guerilla Games proves that game direction need not have longer back-catalogs.
Missing from the Direction
Some of this year’s favorites like Assassin’s Creed Origins, Persona 5, NieR: Automata failed to make the list. However, Persona 5 still holds a chance for winning Game of the Year.
