A tweet from the Dark Souls official twitter account said that Demon’s Souls server were about to shut down early next year. Three months from now, all multiplayer functionality of the game will be closing down at the end of February 2018. The official twitter account of Dark Souls tweeted that “After 9 years of reoccurring deaths and frustrations, but just as many triumphs of dedication, Demon’s Souls online servers will terminate on February 28, 2018.” Demon’s Souls multiplayer component is one of a kind from the day other players can join your quest either co-op or invasion, leaderboards, and wandering silhouettes, bloodstains left by other players that show how they die on that certain area of the game and messages that left by players will all disappear after the shutdown. Atlus, the publisher of the game in North America, confirmed this shutdown will also take place in the West. Gamers around the world say goodbye and pay their respects to the achievement and memories they have with the game.
Demon’s Souls is a PS3 exclusive game developed by From Software and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment in Japan and Atlus in North America was originally released back in 2009. Demon’s Souls became the inspiration of From Software for their critically acclaimed Dark Souls series that bring back difficult games from the 90’s. Demon’s Souls never came to other platforms, on the other hand, director Hidetaka Miyazaki said that Demon’s Souls remake might happen but it won’t be developed by From Software.
